Privacy statementWe recognize that the careful handling of your personal is important to you. This is why we value your trust that IKA handles this information with care. With this statement we will inform you about the purposes of the collection, processing and use of personal data by IKA via its website. In doing so we do of course comply with the legal provisions of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the German Telemedia Act (TMG), as well as other data protection provisions.
Object of data protectionThe object of data protection is personal data. According to section 3 subsection 1 of the BDSG personal data include individual information on personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. Such information includes for example your name, postal address, e-mail address or telephone number, if necessary also usage data such as your (full) IP address.
Responsible officeThe office responsible for personal data collected by this website within the meaning of the BDSG is IKA ® Works GmbH & Co. KG, Janke & Kunkel-Strasse 10, D-79219 Staufen, Germany.
General information on the handling of access dataGenerally it is not necessary for the use of our website that you provide personal data. However, if you visit our website or download data information about this will be automatically stored and processed in a log file. This process is conducted in a way which does not allow us to draw any conclusions about you as a person.
IKA will not use the automatically collected access data for commercial purposes. The evaluation serves the sole purpose of statistical processing and the improvement of our website. To this end we will create user profiles using pseudonyms. No connection will be established between the person behind the pseudonym and the collected usage data. Your data will be deleted after this usage. A permanent storage is excluded. You can find an overview of the kind of collected data in the section entitled "Data Collection by Using Google Analytics “.
The provider of the web pages automatically collects and stores information in what is known as server log files which your browser automatically sends to us. This information includes:
- type of browser / browser version
- operating system used
- referrer URL (previous site visited)
- host name of the accessing computer
- date and time of the server request
- website visited or name of downloaded file
- volume of sent data
- Message upon access or data transmission
- duration of visit
The cookies used by IKA have an unlimited lifespan. If the corresponding server of our website is accessed again by the user of the website, the browser of the user will return the previously received cookie to the server. The server can then analyze the information received by this procedure in various ways. Cookies can for instance facilitate the navigation on a website or regulate advertising. (At present however IKA does not display third-party advertising and therefore does not use the cookies for this purpose). Even these data are collected only anonymously or in the form of pseudonyms.
Data collection by using Google AnalyticsThis website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider of this service is Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics uses what is known as "cookies", i.e. text files stored on your computer, which allows an analysis of how you use the website. The information on your use of the website created by the cookie is as a rule sent to a Google server in the USA for storage.
In the event of the activation of the IP anonymization on this website your IP address (i.e. the unique internet address of your device) will however be shortened beforehand by Google within European Union member or other states that are parties to the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement. Only in exceptional cases the full IP address will be transmitted to a server in the USA and will be shortened there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyze your use of the website, to prepare reports on the website activities and to provide further services in connection with both website and internet use for the website operator. The IP address sent by your browser in the context of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser software; please note however that in this case you will not be able to make full use of all the functions of this website. Information on the use of our online services like Web Shop and NewsletterInformation provided by you
If you want to make use of additional services on our website it may be necessary to collect and process other personal data in addition to the automatically collected data so that you can actually use these services. These services include the ordering of goods and services, the maintenance of a customer account (please note that you may have several accounts if you have registered with us using different e-mail addresses), the application for a newsletter, the contacting our service team, the filling in of questionnaires, the participation in certain activities, the request of a catalogue or of a free extended warranty for your product, as well as general inquiries per e-mail. Personal data that you send to us in these instances may include your name, your address, telephone number, credit card information, the name of persons to who the purchased product is to be shipped, including their address and telephone number, as well as e-mails sent to us including the connection and content data transmitted in the process. Please note that some of the services might not be available in case of incomplete data.
How do we use this information?
Information about our customers is important to us and helps us to improve our services. It is however not part of our business model to sell such customer information. We use the data to process orders, to deliver goods and to provide services, as well as to conduct payments (in case of purchase on account also for the necessary auditing).
We also use your data to communicate with you about orders, products, services and marketing offers, to update our data sets, to manage and maintain your customer accounts with us, and to recommend products to you which might be of interest to you. When we use personal data for advertising we comply with the legal requirements of the German competition law (cf. section 7 of the German Act Against Unfair Competition (UWG). You can withdraw your consent to this use of your data at any time.
We disclose your contact data to third parties only to the extent described as follows:
- Associated companies: Associated companies of IKA within the meaning of section 15 cont. of the German Stock Corporation Act (AktG), provided that they are also subject to this privacy statement or comply with guidelines which offer the same level of protection as this privacy statement. In the event that an associated company is responsible for a customer his or her contact data will for instance be passed on to the associated company to answer a concrete inquiry about a product. As a matter of course, addresses will not be sold to third parties.
- IKA sales agents: Our sales and marketing closely co-operate with chosen sales agents. If a sales agent is responsible a for contacts with a customer the customer's contact data may be passed on to the competent sales agent.
- Service provider: We commission other companies with the implementation of certain tasks for us. These include for instance the shipment of parcels, the sending letters or e-mails, the processing of payments (credit card, credit debiting service and purchase on account) as well as customer service. These service providers may have access to personal information if these are required for the fulfillment of their tasks. They may however use such information only for the fulfillment of the respective task and not for other purposes. On condition that the requirements of a commissioned data processing within the meaning of section 11 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) are met we will close the necessary written agreements with the operators on the handling of data.
- Protection of IKA and third parties: We will disclose personal data of customers to third parties (e.g. authorities) if we are obliged to do so by law or a corresponding administrative order, or if such data transfer is necessary to safeguard and/or protect our rights or the rights of our customers. It is made explicitly clear that in this context no data will be transferred for commercial use which contradicts this privacy statement.
- With your consent: In all other cases we will inform you if personal data are to be disclosed to third parties so that you can decide if you want to give your consent or not.
How safe is information about me?
In order to protect the safety of your information in web shop transfers we use Secure Sockets Layer Software (SSL or TLS). This software encrypts the information provided by you.
When confirming an order we disclose only the first and the last digit of your credit card number. We will of course transmit the full credit card number to the competent credit card company in the course of the order processing. However, credit card information will in this process always be encrypted before it is sent.
We take physical, electronic and procedural security measures in connection with the collection, storage and disclosure of the personal information of our customers. These security measures also imply that we will ask your from time to time to submit proof of your identity before we can disclose personal information to you.
Which information can I view online?
In case of an online registration you can view information about your customer account and your transactions at IKA. In all other cases - for example the mere ordering of a catalogue without registration - this is not possible.

With the ordering of the newsletter you consent to this use of your e-mail address. For a correct delivery of the newsletter we also need your name, optionally the company in which you are employed, as well as your country of residence and the language in which you wish to obtain the newsletter.
The newsletter is sent by e-mail and contains information about new products and offers by IKA. We will not make the personal information collected and processed for the newsletter delivery available to third parties. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Please click here if you wish to do so or use the link stated at the end of each newsletter.
Right of access and right of revocation, corrections and updatesIf you have any questions about data protection at IKA please use our contact form to write to us, and we will do our best to answer your questions and disperse any doubts you might have.
You may at any time, cost-free and without giving reasons request information on your personal data stored at IKA and have them blocked, corrected or deleted by us.
By the way stored personal data will be deleted if the user of the website and/or the customer revokes his consent to data storage, if the data are no longer needed to fulfill the purpose of such storage or if the storage is no longer permitted for other legal reasons (e.g. the expiry of statutory retention periods). Data for billing and accounting purposes shall not be affected by a deletion request, provided that these have to be stored by law.
You may revoke your consent to the collection and use of your personal data by IKA at any time without giving reasons.
