The success never lets up.....
Again this year different installations with our 3-stage bitumen DISPAX-REACTOR® model DR 2000/50-PB have successfully been started up. It has e.g. been possible to incorporate SBS-concentrations of over 16% into so-called flux bitumen1) without any problems. The expectations of the French producer of polymer-modified bitumen have thus been more than fulfilled! In order to fulfill the extended safety regulations the bitumen-DISPAX-REACTOR® is now also available in an Ex-protected version. Customer specific modifications can easily be made at reasonable price due to our modular machine construction. Please contact us!
1) flux bitumen is a bitumen used in road construction. Its viscosity is reduced by adding least volatile flux oils on mineral oil basis.

The magic LAB® - our latest development for laboratory applications. It got the same working modules as the LABOR-PILOT and the machines of the series 2000 and thus offers the possibility of identical working methods from formulation development to mass production.
The magic LAB® is stored in a practical transport, box which also has drawers with premoulded inserts for storage of the different modules.
Master Plant MP - now also available with conterrotating agitator
As an alternative to the spiral agitator, the IKA® Master Plant can now also be equipped with a counterrotating agitatorIt consists of an inner and an outer agitator. The inner one is made of tube profiles and can thus be heated or cooled. The direction of rotation of this agitator is reversible and the speed relation can be infinitely adjusted.
The conterrotating agitator has been designed especially for the use with high viscous materials, which are thoroughly mixed.
The outer stirrer is equipped with wipers avoiding an incrustation on the inside wall of the mixing vessel.
500th LABOR-/PROCESS-PILOT has been delivered

In August 2005 IKA®-Werke GmbH & Co. KG delivered the 500th LABOR-/PROCESS-PILOT to a European customer of the pharmaceutical industry.
This is a nice success for a period of 4 years, showing that we could convince our customers of the advantages of a modular machine design.
This small pilot machine with a drive power from 1.5 kW for the LABOR-PILOT and up to 4 kW for the PROCESS-PILOT is available with each up to 8 different processing parts, thus guaranteeing the greatest possible flexibility in applications.

Continuous production of polymer modified bitumen (PMB) in road construction
Globalization, economic growth, and the abolishment of borders within Europe have resulted in a continuous increase in heavy goods traffic. These ever rising traffic levels have led to a continuously increasing strain on our traffic surfaces in both road and airport construction. In order to satisfy these requirements, more and more polymer modified binding agents (i.e. bitumen) are used in asphalt production. Polymer modified bitumina (PMB for short) are factory produced mixtures of bitumen and polymers, in which the polymers alter the elastoviscous properties of the bitumen, thus rendering the binding agent more suitable for specific loads and demands. In most cases, the use of traditional road construction bitumina does not meet the requirements for heavily used roads. Among the advantages of polymer modified bitumen are:
- lower temperature sensitivity
- improved cohesion
- reduced symptoms of material fatigue
- high resistance to fracture
- high resistance to permanent distortion

Proven by success!!
Another Bitumen-DISPAX-REACTOR®-PB for the production of up to 35 t/h of polymer modified bitumen has been sold.
Our solution for the continuous production of PmB is more and more selling on the market. An increasing number of producers of PmB are recognizing this fact and are using our machine.
Bitumen DISPAX®
Another so-called "Bitumen DISPAX®" has been delivered to one of the biggest producers of polymer-modified bitumen in France
Polymer-modified bitumen (PmB) is an artificial mixture of bitumen and polymers. The polymers cause a change of the elastoviscous behaviour of the bitumen. This mixture is mainly used for road construction.
With the newly developed process of IKA® - an inline system - the polymers are mixed and solved in the bitumen in only one passage. Both components (bitumen and SBS) are continuously dosed and mixed, dispersed and homogenized in the bitumen dispersing machine.
The machine shown above has a capacity of 30 t/h of polymermodified bitumen.

IKA®-Master Plant
A new, pioneer mixing plant for
- emulsifying
- suspending
- homogenizing
All necessary process steps can be done with only two machines.
A multi-functional dispersing machine of type DBI 2000/.. serves for mixing and homogenizing at low shear stress, but also for real dispersing with particles or droplet size reduction. Last but not least the machine can be used as pump for CIP-cleaning.
A specially designed spiral agitator cares for vertical and horizontal thorough mixing - independent from the direction of rotation - even at high viscosities. The procedure of the mixing process is controlled by means of a modern electric control with touch screen monitor, which can be extended on demand.

IKA® High pressure Homogenizer HPH
Micronizing with high pressure!
With the high pressure homogenizer HPH 2000/4 into the nano-range.
The HPH 2000/4 is a new module with high efficiency and multi-purpose use for our successful LABOR-PILOT. Process pressures up to 2000 bar can be built up with this machine. The flow rate is adjustable via speed adjustment.
